Close your eyes, and imagine a world where all military advancement has come to a halt. Guns don't fire, planes don't fly, and man has never reached the moon. In this world, there exists a rather prestigious school known as Far Reach Academy, located near Britain in the this alternate present-day. Crafted by a union of the world's nations, Far Reach seeks to train the next level of soldier, be they a warrior destined for the front lines or a tactician making the calls from their chosen place. In this world, where will you stand? Will you strive to be a force for good in the world? Or will you become just another warrior, doing as you are told?
I welcome you. To FAR REACH ACADEMY!

Another day, another batch of time Haruki would rather spend planning her next move rather then hear about the antics of those so-called "Royals" that had suddenly taken over practically everything in Far Reach. She sipped on a can of tea as she took her time heading to her next class. After all, it wasn't as if she hadn't already planned her day to this point before she'd even left the dorm room that morning. Hell, she had everything up until seven pm that night planned out, and so far everything was going perfectly. So far there'd been no unexpected turns, nothing for Haruki to switch plans for. Just how she preferred it to be.
As she walked, a group of boys passed her on her left.
In three seconds the one with the red shirt is going to turn around to look at me, with a knowing smile on his face while his buddies laugh to whatever dumb joke they just made. The thought crossed Haruki's mind quickly, and right on queue that very thing happened. She smiled to herself. Perfectly predicted as always. She cared less about whatever joke had been made then the fact the boy had done exactly what she had thought he would. It was a little game of hers that she liked to play sometimes when she was on the boring walk from one class to another. Predicting what other people would do was somewhat of her favorite hobby, and she'd never been wrong to date.
And if she was, she quickly shifted gears into Xanatos Mode, as she called it. A mode in which her planning became so precise and varied that she could turn any situation imaginable into her favor. She'd done it several times back at the orphanage, much to the dismay of her various caretakers.
Didn't help that they were all so dreadfully predictable. Haru sighed to herself as she stopped and spared a look outside. As anticipated, some kid was getting thrashed by Soul. Haruki could see the smile on the Royal's face from here, as well as the multiple bruises on the other kid's body. That man was a monster, yet it seemed most of the students at the Academy failed to realize that. Haruki let loose another soft, disappointed sigh as she turned away and continued walking.
He could at least predict the charge, Haruki thought moments before a scream of pain pierced through the walls. She was on the second floor, so she couldn't help but let loose an almost inaudible whistle at the degree of pain Soul must have just inflicted on the boy.
Good thing I have a contingency plan for that already.
Asher would sigh as he watched the Royal slaughter the poor kid. He knew not to mess with the Royals but at the same time he hated how some of them abused there power on the other students They constantly fought kids and caused damage to the school both of which he disliked greatly. With a small glance he would see a rather cute blonde haired girl walking down the hallway. " Its sick how he fights isn't? all destruction no flourish or rhyme he just fights to fight it seems." He would speak at the blonde haired girl trying to cause some small talk he was more or less interested on other peoples opiones on the Royals and how Soul fought.
Oooo... Oooo... Pretty much the only comments he could say as the kid was being beaten to a bloody pulp. Whatever that kid might have done, it must have been something rather annoying towards the Royal. Such power, only for it to be thrown away on the children that seemed to be of lower status. While he himself loved horror movies, he was not interested in watching the students get battered in such a brutal way. Seems like they were going to have to train if they wanted to defend themselves from such a monster, but the Royals work as a group. The students saw each other as enemies based on what he saw. Blood looks so much different than in the movies. That was the only comment he could make, half to himself and half to those who were listening. It looked like a brutal car crash, and their eyes were just unable to look away from it. It was far too horrible, yet they were able to watch it. The Royal sent a message, not that Satoshi himself was going to let it happen for long. He planned to be a Royal, his ambitions were set. And not once has he been thrown off track of his goals. I'll be able to train up to that level one day, but I don't plan on abusing the students like tha-.... Oh wow...
Haruki scoffed at the words of the boy who addressed her as she walked, though she did halt, if only so she could properly aim her gaze at him. She tilted her head slightly back as she examined him, her eyes tracing along his form in such a way that it tended to make most people uncomfortable, as though she was analyzing them for some reason.
She took in a breath before she spoke. "Sick? Hardly. It's excessive yes, but a show of power at this stage of the game is a wise decision for a Royal to make. The aim of his actions is to scare off those who are too weak, those meeklings who would only challenge him believing he'd merely back down, or that they'd win because he'd be unable to hit them." Haruki turned her gaze back out the window to her right as she surveyed the ensuing chaos below. Such a brutal display. While she had to admit the display of power was indeed impressive as well as a bit off-putting, she also recalled that so far Soul had been the only Royal that was capable of showing this level of power, which meant the other four were far below his level.
The girl narrowed her eyes as Soul drove another fist into the poor fool. Such a shame that the kid refused to stay down.
It's almost as though Soul is making a statement... "You see this? Get stronger. Fight. Maybe then you'll stand a chance." Haruki thought to herself as she slowly took another sip from her tea. She spared a glance back at the kid, closing her eyes before stating simply:
"Ultimately, though, I find it unsurprising that you'd be one to say such a thing, judging by your apparent stance on this. To put it simply, this is a prime example of Social Darwinism. The strong succeed, and the weak get crushed beneath their feet. Survival of the fittest, applied to modern society. When you think about it that way, it becomes something far more interesting... and dare I say enticing," Haruki allowed her lips to curl into a small, telling smile as she opened her eyes to gaze at the boy once more for but a few moments before her attention was caught by yet another student. This time one who seemed to be far less opposed to the violence before him.
Of course blood looks different in movies, all it is there is food color and corn syrup, Haruki thought, slightly annoyed with the child's ignorance as he continued to seem fascinated by the scene before him. Her eyes widened slightly in a tad bit of surprise when he mentioned being able to train to that level, and she found herself turning her own gaze back to the scene before speaking. Mostly to herself, although it could also easily be directed towards either one of the two boys.
"Absolute power corrupts absolutely... or so they say. Perhaps one day I'll be able to see that firsthand."
In some ways, she was mocking the Royals for their foolishness. In others, she was announcing her intentions to one day become a Royal. She had complete confidence that she would indeed meet that goal. There was no plausible way she couldn't. It would take a few months of planning, or perhaps a lucky strike, but she would end up standing at the top eventually. And at that point there would be none who could stop her. She planned perfectly, precisely. She was able to just barely tell, even from the distance before them, what Soul would do next before he executed it. Albeit, she didn't know how or to which part of the fool's body Soul would hit, but she had witnessed enough that she was easily able to tell when he'd strike.
It's a shame nobody here can actually see his strikes clearly, though. Perhaps I'll be the first.

Asher would shake his head slightly before sighing a little bit. "Absolute power...." He would murmur to him self lifting his hand under his chin to think for a few seconds. "How strong is strong enough to beat someone like that....Would it bring the worse out of someone to get that strong."He would shake the thought out of his head before looking at the boy who spoke with an almost soft smile. "Where you expecting anything like him when you came to this school? I know the strongest and most promising kids come here but.....He is just other wordily."The smile on his face would grow even more as his mind raced just a bit at the idea of someone of the same strength fighting Soul.
Come on now, at the end of the day, he's still human! Barely, but he must have started somewhere... He'd explain as he would watch the scenario in front of him worsening. It was none too clear to see when the strikes connected against the flesh of the student, but it must have been something brutal considering the results. That kid will be tasting nothing but iron for weeks after this. There was not even a clear opening to jump into the fight, so even if one wanted to get in the way, theming finding a way in was near impossible. Probably comes down to ambition, and the gym itself looks far more enticing now. Gotta get buffed up before challenging that monster. The brunette would announced. He knew that he was not so much of a smart fighter, but one with aggression and speed, and sometimes that was all it took to win a fight. That was Satoshi's thought anyways, he wanted victory over the enemy at the end of the day. If it means getting a title in the process as well, then so be it.
Haruki turned her back to the window, finding herself now disinterested in the massacre occurring below. She listened boredly at the word of the other two boys, sipping on her tea whilst they chattered aimlessly. The weak one seemed to believe Soul was otherworldly, and Haruki did agree that it certainly seemed as such at first glance.
However, Soul was still a student. The more brawny one had said it just then as well: Soul was still human.
Human. Mortal. Destroyable. A faint smile played on Haruki's lips as the final word crossed her mind, a smile subtle enough that only those who had been around her for some time would recognize the slight upturned curl to her lips. Of course, that meant neither of the boys there had seen it. You are always the highest just before your fall, Haruki thought to herself as she took another sip from her can. Yes, that was it. A plan had begun to formulate in Haruki's mind, a plan of how she would be able to topple the owner of the crown, of how she could stand upon the ashes and proclaim victory.
But first, she needed more power. She needed armaments. She'd have to buy a staff from the campus store at some point, preferably soon. She wasn't so vain that she didn't realize that as far as physical strength went, she was rather behind the pack. If anything, she decided she'd be more akin to a mage in an RPG then a front-line fighter.
However, there have been cases where mages fought on the front lines, Haru reminded herself. She lifted her gaze up to examine the brawny boy as she caught the tail end of his statements, and she sighed inwardly as she spoke.
"Merely training your body will do nothing for you. It is intelligence that wins wars, not brute strength," she stated simply, her eyes closed as she made the declaration in such a factual tone that it had a history of rubbing people the wrong way. She'd made enemies before by proving she was smarter, so she obviously had no problem doing it again. She'd not put up a false image unless it suited her goals, which in this case it hardly did. Additionally, the two boys didn't serve such a purpose in her planning that she'd need them as allies.
At all, really, and for that she actually found herself being rather grateful. The less time she would have to spend around gawking fools and those who didn't know how to think, the better she felt her plan would work. She didn't have time to plan for stupidity or amazement. Her plans of that moment required that her party remain as calm as possible no matter the situation.
Asher would sigh and give an almost sad smile at the girl. "Your right but at the same time so very wrong. "He would glance back out the window to see soul finishing up the fight with the poor kid who looked like he would need a full body cast after everything that happened to him. "Intelgince can win battles but if the soldiers arnt strong they will get crushed in the end. Its a careful balance of having a smart general and a well trained army. But in the case of a one on one fight it comes down to skill "He would give a small sigh after speaking before moving both his hands behind his head and stretching. "If you two don't mind me asking where are you from?"
He's a big dude with a lot of muscle and speed, what more can you know than that? I like what the smart guy just said, because I have yet to see a fight won without using fists and bullets. Satoshi would explain as he would then place his palms in his pockets calmly, now getting his eyes used to the scene now. So this is what the kids at Far Reach saw every day, and this was what the system came down to. It was still an interesting topic, and he now wondered why such a thing was thought up to be a good idea in the first place. Where are we from? I dunno, I guess from here? I am British, I just don't have the accent. Why do you ask again? The brunette would ask in turn. He might as well learn if he was going to have some data extracted from his mind. While he did not really show it, he knew much data.
Haruki suppressed a laugh at the brawny boy's words, temporarily overpassing the words the other boy had said for a moment as she slowly made a move to reply. "You must really have no knowledge outside movies. Bullets? Pff. Such things only exist in the realms of sci-fi and fiction," she stated simply. Honestly, it was rather amusing. This man was how old and he believed in guns? Most people stopped believing in such fairy tales by the age of seven. It was frankly almost surprising that this kid had survived for this long without that fragile and unrealistic belief being utterly shattered. She chose not to address the statement both men had agreed on, not until she had given her own answer to the one the weaker boy had posed.
"As for my heritage, I was born in Japan and was raised in an English-speaking household. Sore wa anata no orokana shitsumon no subetedesu ka?" she stated firmly, the question posed being one that was none too respectful if someone actually knew the language in question. Ultimately though, she didn't care.
"As for the statements you both have made, while I will digress that there is some manner of strength that must be involved, intelligence is oft more then capable of making up for what one lacks in physical strength. Additionally," Haruki turned her narrowed gaze on the weaker boy, "I am referring to individuals, not armies. I've read Sun Tzu's Art of War more times then you've probably heard of it. I understand perfectly well the difference." It was a faint exaggeration, but she didn't need to get into the specifics. It was a waste of time to listen or even attempt to understand what went on within those two, although the weaker one seemed to at least be half-way teachable. Perhaps his next years at the school could teach him more then just the basics of tactical plotting. Haruki pulled a timepiece out from her pocket, clicking it open to check the time before swiftly depositing it back to its prior place. She had plenty of time still, so she turned her gaze to the boys, shifting her stance to intentionally display arrogance.
"Although if either of you would like to argue that point further, I'd be more then happy to display to you how senseless you're acting. Sa, yowai. Watashi to ta-ta-ka-u." Haruki almost overspecialized the last word. Come, weakling. Fight me. It was a blatant challenge. One with which to test how well the two would perceive a threat. Necessary risks had to be taken, after all.
Regardless, it would end up as a good exercise. She needed to spar, especially if she wished to become a Royal at some point.

Asher would only know one word of what the girl said and that was fight. He knew that word rather well in different languages it was a good word to know in the military after all. He would chuckle just a little bit under his breath before taking a step towards the girl. "If you wish to fight then lets have a sparing match."He would then glance at the other boy with a small smile. "Of course if you wish you can join as well."He would grin a bit more before stretching a bit and looking down at the courtyard the students have cleared from the earlier fight and was now open for a new one to break out and with the things going like they where it was most likely going to be soon.
When Yuki got out of bed today the last thing he expected to see was the sight of one of the school's finest inserting domainance over the other students with brute force alone. While he wasn't here for very long as he was concidered a transfer student, he was here long enough to hear about these "Royals" who we're basicly the celebrities of the school and so far are the best that it had to offer. Of course it didn't even take a full day to hear about the five of them considering how popular they are.
But if if there was one thing he was most annoyed over all it was gossip. Just about all he hears wherever he goes is something about that group of students. The worst part about it is that it makes others feel like they mean nothing in comparison to them. While it might not have been the intension it defiantly feels like it. But he isn't worrying about that like the other students would. Anyone could reach that level if they worked hard enough. He just wasn't working as hard as he should be, but that's about to change.
He might as well get started by having a few spars to improve himself. Speaking of which, he could see a challenge right next to him. A few feet away, he could make out the verbal challenge in the Asian tongue as well as in her body language
"If you want to test a classmate'a strength then I'll take the challange YĆ«jin." Yuki said as he would make his presence know by standing behind the two boys who were already in the conversation with her.
Yeah, sure, whatever. The brunette would wave off the long speech with a yawn after that. That was about as boring to him as learning in a classroom was. What with all of the hollow information that none of them could use for the future like they claimed they did. However, the sudden challenge to a fight was definitely something of interest to him now. Now this guy speaks the way a normal person should be. I like em! Satoshi would explain as he placed his hands up in two balled up fists. But I take no sides I'm afraid. I'm my own team, so careful, for I may strike at any time! A fair warning with no hollow words in them. He liked being tricky and using his strength and combat knowledge to mix. Despite not being one of the fastest beings to exist, he felt that speed can only do so much without force.
Haruki smiled to herself, this time a little more noticeably as she lifted herself off of the window. "Very well then," she said softly, her eyes opening with a fervor and willpower that she hadn't displayed previously. She followed the weaker boy's gaze down to where Soul had been previously beating the tar out of that student from earlier, but other then the occasional spot of blood on the grass it was hard to tell they had even been there. Haruki closed her eyes as she lowered her head slightly, though she opened one in mock surprise as a third boy stated his intentions to join in on the fighting.
Haruki allowed her smile to grow a smidge wider.
And the fourth joins in, she thought to herself. She'd had the suspicion that one of the students around them would join in, but didn't expect it to be one who was so outwardly friendly. He'd even referred to her as a friend. Haru almost laughed. She didn't have friends, she had allies. There was a distinct difference to that, but she decided not to correct the boy. It would do her no good to say she wasn't his friend, in fact it could have much the opposite effect in the long run. She quickly reviewed the path they'd be taking down to that particular area of the school, tracing an alternate route for herself so as to pass by the campus store on her way out.
"In that case, I'll see you guys there," she stated, her tone friendly despite her stance being rather neutral and uncaring. She had a purchase to make if she was going to begin fighting. She simply didn't have the physical capabilities to win a fight with her bare fists, additionally it did nothing for her to split knuckles or break nails.
She'd spent valuable time and money on that manicure, dammit. Like hell was she going to waste all of it immediately by getting herself into a fight. Granted the extended nails could easily be filed into claws- not that she wasn't already planning on that- but she'd have to avoid breaking them all before she got to fighting. Also, breaking nails fucking hurt and Haruki didn't wish to deal with that right now.
Maybe next week, Haruki thought darkly. Breaking a nail next week would be rather painful for whoever she was fighting, but could also be planned for in the event it did happen. On a similar note, Haruki needed to plan for the more broad ways the fight could go, so that she could properly set up her chessboard, so-to-speak. That she could, of course, do while making her purchase.
"Ja, I'll be on my way then. Don't be too late," Haruki said simply as she began on her course. She would, of course, arrive at the scene far faster then the other three. She'd planned the route perfectly, and it had the potential to shave minutes off of her travel time should she need it. Additionally, she could easily modify her course if she was being tailed. Those three didn't need to see what it was she was buying. Not until she decided they needed to. True she would probably miss out on some time, but she'd still arrive there at around the same time as the others, granted they didn't simply jump out of the third-story window like a bunch of idiots.
Truth be told, Haruki was already devising a course of action should they do that exact thing.
Asher would smile before stretching a bit and starting to head down to the courtyard as well. He would stop by his locker first though for a few minutes. He would pull out his dulled lance that he normally saved for practice after school but seeing as this was a sparing match it would be perfect for this. He would give a small sigh as he felt it over a bit sad that he had to dull its point but rules where rules and nothing to sharp was allowed for sparing. He would quickly shut his locker and head into the courtyard with a small smile he would look around and wait for the other two with no words.
